Turning Expander Instructions

It's easy!

This palatal spreading device is cemented to your first molars. In order for the expander to work the screw needs to be turned by you or your parents as many times as prescribed. Usually it's once a day either in the morning or at night. The key is inserted into the hole and then pushed all the way to the back of the throat. If you did it correctly, the next hole will appear and the expander is ready to be turned next time. If you are sore you can skip a day or two, thats not a problem! Patients with palatal expanders are seen about every two weeks.
